Division I (half-day)
Mrs. Holmes is enjoying teaching the half day DI students. She has taught and learned from the many diverse learners during her twenty years of teaching. Most recently she taught Kindergarten for eight years in a D11 International Baccalaureate school, and as the education director at Ruth Washburn Cooperative Nursery School. Brenda has a BFA from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in illustration. Here in Colorado she has earned her CDA, Director Qualification, and Masters in Education/Curriculum. In 2013 she earned the difficult National Board Certification in Early Childhood Education. She has taught workshops and college courses that stress the need for cross curricular, inquiry driven, hands-on experiences for young children. She has worked for over twenty years as staff naturalist and early childhood specialist at Starsmore Discovery Center in North Cheyenne Canon. She enjoys coaching and empowering teachers on incorporating the natural sciences into their curriculum and teaches courses through Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife and the State Forest Service. Brenda, her husband, and their enthusiastic daughters live in the woods above Manitou where they hike, sled, and search for clues of wildlife.
